We have just started learning about the 5 senses and I have set up a wonder table for the students to indepedently explore each sense as it is introduced.

The first sense we have began learning is the sense of touch. On the table there are many different things for the students to touch. These include:

 

• texture cards (laminated cards wiht a variety of material hot glued on)
• bubble wrap
• playdough with sand in it
• squeezy rubber caterpillers
• balloons filled with mystery objects

During activity time students are able to independently investigate the items on the table. This promotes and develops their oral language when talking about their discoveries with their peers. Each time a new sense is introduced a new card is put on the poster.
