A handy work of art

This calendar is a perfect year long project our parents love to receiving at the end of each the year. We like to complete one page from the calendar per month and then collate them at the end of the year for each student.

Save yourself time (and worry) by printing off each child’s calendar in full at the start of the year and initialling the back of each page. Then place all pages into a manila folder, as each months handprint is completed return it to the folder too. This way you can keep on top of who has completed each month and who needs to catch up (due to illness etc).

The calendar is set out to suit the seasons and special events celebrated in Australia, however you can shuffle the pages around to suit your seasons without mixing up the months.

Handprints featured in this calendar include: sun, heart, rabbit, autumn tree, bunch of flowers, snowflake, umbrella, rainbow, tractor, spider, butterfly and reindeer. Each month has the poem already printed on the page so all you need to do isprint and add the handprints!

We have created a sample calendar for you to view. I made this calendar for my Nana featuring the handprints of my son and 2 nephews (her great grandchildren!), that is why there are 3 handprints on the cover page, your students could of simply place their left and right hand on the cover. If I were to create this calendar at school I would of course make use of the craft supplies and make it more "collage-y" however I still think it turned out alright, and more importantly my Nana loved it!

Each month we will feature the new calendar month page in our blog with our special hints and tips for creating each page. We would also love to see how you interpret and create the calendar in your classrooms. Please add your photos to our Facebook page by clicking {here}.

Download your calendar now, or add it to your pigeonhole for future use.

Remember keep calm and pretend it's on the lesson plan!
