Back to school, back to school, to prove to dad I'm not a fool.

Have you started thinking about the new school year yet? Well we're assuming that as you are reading a teaching blog - you have! For those of you who are new to our website we just wanted to share with you some of our back to school items and blogs.

Ready. Set. Print!

First day of school sign.

Looking for a cute way to commemorate the start of a new school year? Why not print out these signs and have your students hold them up. There are two different designs to choose from. The first sign is simple to use - just print, hold and click! The second sign has space for the students to draw a picture of what they would like to do when they grow up, an adult can then scribe for them in the space provided.

Our Class Expectations

Use this poster to clearly identify your expectations without taking up too much wall space! Each expectation is written in a different colour and font. You might like to print this to A3 size so that it is more visable.

The whooo tree

We made this cute registration board last year. As they enter the room students find their name and place their owl onto the tree. A great way to reinforce name recognition.

Playdough club

Why not get your parents involved in a playdough club? This involves parents volunteering to make playdough for the class once or twice a year - and is one less job for you, or your assistant, to do!

Available to download we have a letter for your parents, with a return slip included. There are also 2 different recipe cards to send home to your parents with both stove top and microwave directions.

Whoooooo's at school today...

Welcome your students to the class with this cute door/bulletin board sign. Simply place the sign in the middle and write the name of each student into an owl and display around the sign. Signs available include: kindy, kindergarten, prep, pre-primary, pre-school and our classroom

Where oh where did our holidays go? Time to get laminating!

A snapshot of me!
21 August 2012

As we begin to learn about life cycles in Kindy we first looked at our own life cycle (so far!)

The students discussed the ways they have changed since being a baby. The things they could and couldn't do as a baby, toddler and now as a Kindy Kid. We also discussed how they may change in the future.

The students then brought in 2 photos from home (1 of them as a baby, and 1 as a toddler) and we took a photo of them at school in their uniform. The students then glued the pre-cut camera on top of the photo and arranged the cameras in chronological order.

(for privacy reasons, the faces have been blurred as usual)

The students then chose things they could and couldn't do at each age, this was scribed for them by an adult. You can download your copy of the camera and baby/toddler/kid tags here.

This would also make a great back to school, getting to know you activity for the start of the new school year.

The students and parents all love looking at the photos and seeing how much the students have (or in some cases haven't!) changed.
