Can you believe it? We are just a hop, skip and jump away from reaching the incredible milestone of 100 days of school for the 2023 academic year! 🙌🏼
It’s time to put on our party hats, celebrate our students’ achievements, and make the most of this momentous occasion. To make your celebrations a little bit easier, we’ve collated some fantastic ideas and TT resources from the webby to help you make your 100th day of school truly extraordinary!
💛 Counting Journey: Organize a classroom-wide counting adventure where students count to 100 as a group. Use our Collaborative 100’s Chart to encourage your students to trace, paint and decorate each number from 1-100, then finish by collating and correctly ordering the numbers on a bulletin board or blank wall. Best of all, this doubles as both a craft display and a useful classroom resource! Use it to practise skip counting, identifying odd and even numbers, and more.
💛 Create a 100th Day Crown: Encourage students to design and decorate their own crowns using the 100 Days of School Crown resource. They can proudly wear these crowns throughout the day and take them home to show their families!
💛 Skip Counting Party: Throw a skip counting party! Engage students in skip counting exercises by tens, fives, or even twos, depending on their year level. We’ve got heaps of resources you can use for this; our favourites include the Skip Counting Mazes and the digital Pick & Click interactive PowerPoint.
💛 Counting Beads: Blend maths, fine motor and art into one by making our 100 Days of School Necklace. Students add ten beads to each circle and skip count to 100. Then, they thread the beads onto a string in order. Get creative with colours and styles; your students will love wearing their new unique creations!
💛 100 Days of School Booklet: This easy-print booklet features an assortment of writing prompts related to the number 100. Complete a page a day in the lead-up to your celebration, or divide the printables randomly amongst your students!
💛 100 Days Mystery Bag: Engage your parents, carers and community members with this fun guessing activity! Ask your students to bring in a sealed bag to school containing 100 of the same item. Next, they need to use their knowledge of descriptive words to write three clues to help their classmates guess what’s inside the bag. Why not ask each student to bring in a food item and celebrate the activity’s conclusion with a class party?
💛 Explore and Exercise: Grab our 100 Days Fitness Trail resource and take your students on an outdoor journey to explore your school environment. Have them reflect on the best activities they’ve done in each place so far during the year while performing simple exercise routines in lots of 10. Skip count as you progress until you reach 100!
💛 Hunt for Numbers: Using our 100 Days Number Hunt, hide the number cards in any space you like; a playground is a fantastic option, but if the weather doesn’t permit, you can also use a classroom or an undercover area. Students place the recording sheet on a clipboard and venture out to find as many of the number cards as they can! Extend the challenge by adding a time limit or simplify the activity by putting your students into pairs or teams.
Remember, the 100th day of school is a moment to celebrate our students’ growth, progress, and achievements during the year, and to look forward to all of the amazing events to come 🎉 With the help of some of these amazing resources, we can make this day truly memorable and enjoyable for everyone involved.
Happy teaching and happy 100th day of school! 💛
