Can you believe it’s already Term 4? 2024 has absolutely flown by! ✈️
The end of the year means it’s time to start thinking about writing your reports – which can often be the most daunting task of the year 😰 Luckily, we’re here to help!
In today’s blog, we’ll be looking at some of our most popular resources for supporting you during this challenging time period, including help with your assessments, report comments and more! Let’s make report writing as painless as possible so you can get back to enjoying your final weeks of the year with your students 💛
Is there anything more exhausting as a teacher than writing report comments? 😓 Whether it’s General, Maths, English or a specialist subject, it can be a real challenge trying to write meaningful, informative comments for your students and families without taking up all your free time and energy!
Thankfully, we’ve got you covered at TT with our Report Comment Resources 💛
Our Report Comment Resources are separated by year level and made to be aligned with the V9.0 Australian Curriculum. Each resource comes in an Excel spreadsheet separated into sections for General, Maths and English comments, and we’ve included comments to match every curriculum code, whether students are at Working Towards, At Standard or Working Beyond. Each subject area also contains a huge variety of achievement standard comments sorted by sub-strand. Simply cut and paste the comments you want to use straight into your reports – it couldn’t be simpler!
The documents are also completely editable, so you can customise yours to suit your class, school and context and re-use them for years to come!

💛 Customise Your Rubrics: Many of our downloadable assessment rubrics, such as the ones that come with our Mathematics assessment sets, are completely editable! This means that you can adjust the text included to suit individual students or whole class contexts. When it comes time to assess, simply print one per student and highlight the boxes that apply to the skill demonstrated. That way, when you’re ready to complete your reports, you have easily referenced sources for your grades and pre-prepared statements you can use as part of your report comments. Easy peasy!
💛 Make It Hands-On: It can be super beneficial, especially for lower years students, to make your assessments hands-on and kinaesthetic. Not only does it make it easier for many students to demonstrate their understanding of a topic, but it also makes it way more fun! Some of our favourites in the TT office include the Caterpillar Counting Assessment and the Hairy Monsters: Counting to 20 Assessment, both of which are perfect for assessing counting to 5, 10 or 20 in the lower years. These assessments are ideal because of their clear reportable methods of recording data, so they make for a great reference point at reporting time.
💛 Use Individual Unit Assessments: Did you know that all of our assessments from our comprehensive Unit Plans are also available as individual downloads? Use the standalone assessments to quickly check for understanding on curriculum content across Science, HASS, Health and more for all year levels! They’re perfect for when you’re short on time and need a grade for your reports, but you don’t have enough lessons to get through our entire unit plan 👍🏻
