Description
Students correctly answer questions to reach the top of the mountain. How far will they make it up the mountain? As they progress higher up the mountain, the scenery will change from grassy trails to snowy peaks. At the end, a polaroid snapshot shows how far they climbed and their final score. This is a cooperative game where, if there is more than one player, they must work together to reach the summit as a team.
In this version, students practise identifying numbers that are 10 more or 10 less than a given number, within the range of 1 to 100. This foundational place value skill helps develop number sense and mental computation fluency. Support students may use a hundreds chart to assist with visualising the patterns and relationships between numbers.
Let’s Hike – 10 More 10 Less to 100 is ideal for Foundation to Year 2 students learning to navigate the number system. It’s perfect for numeracy warm-ups, place value rotations, or as a fun, goal-oriented activity using the QR code.
