Using a hundreds chart and task cards, students will locate specific numbers based on clues, reinforcing their ability to navigate a number grid with confidence.

How to Complete:

1. Print the hundreds chart and task cards on thick cardstock for longevity. We recommend enlarging the charts to A3.
2. Students select a task card and read the clue. Using the hundreds chart, they locate the number that matches the clue and cover it with a counter or suitable alternative.
3. Students have the option to colour the number on the included recording sheet.

Additional Tips

1. Prior to the activity, review how to navigate a hundreds chart and how to identify patterns, such as moving up or down for +10 or -10, and left or right for +1 or -1.
2. Turn the activity into a game by having students race to find numbers first or work in teams.

Extension Ideas

1. Create New Challenges: Encourage students to write their own number clues for a partner to solve.
2. Skip Counting Practice: Use the chart to reinforce skip counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s.
