If you’re looking for a hands-on 2D shape lesson, with the added benefit of creating an educational and colourful classroom display, then the 2D Shape Mobile is the activity you’ve been searching for.

Students will have the opportunity to develop their shape knowledge and fine motor skills as they cut, colour, draw 2D shapes, match real-life examples, and record shape properties, all while assembling their mobile! With eight shapes to choose from and four printing options, there is a version of the 2D Shape Mobile that is sure to suit you.

The templates for the 2D Shape Mobile can be either printed in colour, black and white onto coloured cardstock or black and white for students to colour, cut and then create.

We have also included an optional task where students can colour, cut, sort and glue real-life 2D shape examples to the back of each mobile piece!

We recommend that the 2D Shape Mobile activity is completed on cardstock for durability. Students will need ribbon, string or wool and tape to attach the pieces of their mobile together.
