2D Shape Race is a hands-on and engaging game that will challenge students to combine their 2D shape knowledge and fine motor skills, including pencil grip and tracing.   This game is suitable for individuals and small groups. Students will take turns rolling a die and moving around the game board. Each time they land on a shape, they will identify it and trace it on their recording sheet. The winner is the first student to trace all of their shapes or the player with the most shapes traced at the end of the playing time.   Tracing is a purposeful fine motor activity that supports future literacy skills. Holding a pencil or crayon requires a pincer grip, which helps to strengthen the small muscles in the fingers and hands, and following the lines of each 2D shape requires focus, precision and control.   This game comes in both high and low colour versions. Printing the game boards on thick card is recommended to ensure longevity.   2D Shape Race can be used during independent, partner or small group work.   It’s time to get racing!
