Laminate and use these alphabet mats to help students’ letter identification, letter formation and fine motor skills.
Students will roll the letters out of play dough and then use whiteboard markers to write the letters. By rolling and stretching play dough to create the letters, your students will be strengthening the small muscles in their hands and improving their finger dexterity and control. Using a whiteboard marker to trace the letters allows students to develop their pincer grip, hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness as they consider each letter's size, shape, and position. Repeatedly forming the letters also develops students' muscle memory, enabling them to demonstrate automaticity, consistency and accuracy in future writing tasks.
Each mat also features pictures of objects that start with that letter around the page to help reinforce the sound.
