This resource is a fun animal needs collecting game that ties in with Year One Biological Sciences.

The aim of the game is for students to collect two animal needs items from the game board.

Each player starts with their playing piece on the start square. Players take turns to roll the dice and move their playing piece the corresponding number of times. The board has no finishing point, players can keep moving around and around the board until they have collected all the items on their Animal Needs card.

When a player lands on a square, they need to identify the need. The player then puts a counter on the ‘Animal Needs’ card in the section that matches. The player who places two counters in every section of their ‘Animal Needs’ card first is the winner of the game.

The components of the game are the Animal Needs gameboard, Animal Needs Recording Cards and the Animal Needs Reference Sheet. Students will also need a dice, playing pieces and some counters to play the game.

The gameboard, recording cards and reference sheet can be printed on thick card or placed into a write and wipe sleeve for longevity.
