Description

Are you looking for a fun activity to help develop your students’ fine motor skills? Our Apple Tree Craft is just what you need!

To make this eye-catching craft, students will need to trace their hand and forearm on brown cardstock to make a tree trunk. They will cut out the tree leaves template and glue the leaves and trunk together on the backing template. Students can then use a cotton bud and dark green paint to dot paint the leaves. To complete the craft, they can glue red pom poms on the tree to represent apples. To create a beautiful display of your students crafts, hang them around the included banner.

Students will develop fine motor skills, including finger strength, control and hand-eye coordination as they create this colourful craft. Holding a cotton bud with a pincer grip will engage the small muscles in their fingers and hand, and placing the dots in a particular spot on the tree template requires hand-eye coordination, focus and precision! For an added fine motor element, have students use tweezers to place the pom pom apples on the tree!

This resource includes:

  1. Detailed instructions.
  2. Tree pieces (includes an tree trunk if you do not want your students tracing their hand and arm).
  3. Backing template.
  4. Colourful display banner.

Please ensure that in addition to the printable resources, students have access to cotton buds, green paint, craft glue and pom poms.

Top Teacher Tips:

  1. Students may benefit from the pieces being enlarged to A3.
  2. We recommend printing the templates on coloured cardstock; however, if printing on white, allow your students to paint their pieces prior to assembling them.

Completed crafts can be displayed around the included banner!
