Are You A Bystander Or An Upstander? Scenario Activity
Description
Teaching protective behaviours to your students? Promoting help-seeking behaviours and how to be an upstander?
Students can practise being an upstander by implementing and rehearsing help-seeking behaviours to deal with situations where they witness bullying. Students can be placed into groups and use the storyboarding page to plan a performance on how a bystander and an upstander would act in these situations. Students can then identify the appropriate strategies to provide help and the importance of seeking help. Alternatively, students can complete a jigsaw or discussion activity at the end of a lesson about bullying or protective behaviours.
This is a set of 8 scenario cards and a storyboard page about the challenges of bullying. Print the cards on thick cards and place them in a storage container for easy reuse.
This activity is a part of the Years 5 & 6 Making Healthy and Safe Choices Unit.
