Description
Use this fun activity to help your student master calculating the area and perimeter of regular and compound shapes.
Students use a spinner to select a shape and then draw the shape onto the appropriate think mat. Students then roll dice to identify and label the side, length and height values around the shape. Using number sentences, they then calculate the area and perimeter of this shape.
This resource includes two spinners and think mats to choose from depending on your class and context. An example has been provided for both think mats.
Use different-sized dice to create differentiation. Students could use 6, 8, 12 or 20-sided dice (why not use the dice on our digi-tool dashboard?). Students could also draw their own compound shapes.
