Description

This fun and engaging map design task engages your students’ creativity and critical thinking skills.

Two versions of the activity are included in your download, so you can use the version that best suits your students and context. Students create a map of a fictional theme park, using the grid as a guide to draw elements, including pathways, rides, shops and amenities. In one version, the percentage values are provided for students to follow, allowing them to calculate the number of squares each element will need to take up. The extension activity asks students to create elements of any size they like and then calculate the total percentage of the map taken up by each.

This makes for a perfect independent or paired task. Why not enlarge your printout to A3 and create amazing colourful maps to use as classroom displays?

Pair this activity with the Crack the Ferris Wheel Code worksheets!
