Description

Use this activity to help your students practise spelling /oo/ (as in book) words and writing decodable sentences.

Students look at the /oo/ picture and segment the sounds into the phoneme boxes using either manipulative letters or by writing the graphemes. Once the word is made/written, we recommend encouraging the student to “say the sounds and read the word”. They then proceed to move on to tracing the sentence. Once finished, encourage the student to read the sentence out loud. The final step is for the student to have a go at writing/copying the sentence themselves.

This resource comes with 12 simple decodable sentence boards. Print the boards and place them into write and wipe sleeves.

The /oo/ words included are: book, chook, cook, cooking, foot, footy, hood, hook, wood, bush, push and pull.
