This set of worksheets provides a wonderful way for your students to investigate how authors make readers care about their characters.

A short text is provided which tells the story of a girl who is new to a school and would like to make friends. She is pressured into doing something that she knows is wrong by another student and she gets caught. When your students have read the story, they can use the spaces on the sheet to draw the characters, perhaps in different scenes throughout. There are then a set of questions to answer about the two main characters. The questions address how the author makes the reader think about the decisions that the characters make and any consequences that they receive.
