Each one-page investigation includes an example inquiry question, a list of easy-to-find-equipment, a simple procedure and bonus ideas. The investigations are based on the following inquiry questions:
- What type of bag will protect buried treasure?
- Which material will slow down the melting of ice?
- Can paper be manipulated to make it stronger?
- Will breaking chalk change what it is made from?
- Can folding a piece of paper make it fly?
This set of five purposeful templates have been designed to align with the V9 Chemical Sciences Australian Curriculum. In addition to developing their science understanding, each investigation provides opportunities for students to apply scientific inquiry skills, including posing questions, making predictions, following a procedure, making observations and reflecting upon results.
