Roll up to the Carnival of Chemistry! Your students can enjoy discovering reversible and irreversible changes with this fun Year 6 Chemical Sciences unit. The inquiry-based unit focuses on hands-on experiences. The lessons are carnival-themed and explore dissolving, burning and evaporation through visits to the food truck and drinks stall as well as helping the fire dancer and investigating fireworks. A range of engaging experiments and activities will be completed throughout the unit, such as dissolving confectionary, preparing pizza dough and making lemonade. Your students will use their knowledge gained to research, plan and carry out their own investigation that demonstrates a reversible or irreversible change. This is the first of two assessments that are included. Comprehensive marking rubrics are provided for each of the assessments. The unit ends with a wonderful Carnival of Chemistry science fair celebration.
