Description

Engage your students in a hands-on data collection and graphing activity with this exciting Collecting Easter Eggs game! Designed for 2-4 players, this interactive game encourages students to practise recording data with tally marks and displaying results using a column graph. As students move around the game board, they will collect Easter eggs, track their findings, and analyse their data.

 

How to Complete

  1. Players roll a die and move their playing piece around the board. When landing on an Easter egg, they record the egg type on their recording slip using tally marks.
  2. The game continues with students rolling and recording their data for a total of 20 turns. Once the game ends, students transfer their recorded data onto their My Easter Egg Collection graph to visually represent their findings.
 

Additional Tips

  1. We recommend printing the game board onto thick cardstock and enlarging to A3.
  2. Encourage discussion by asking students which Easter egg appeared the most or least.
 

Extension Ideas

  1. Probability Discussion: Have students predict which egg they think will be the most common before playing, then compare their predictions to their actual data.
  2. Addition Challenge: Ask students to add up their tally marks to find the total number of eggs collected.
  3. Graphing Variations: Instead of a column graph, challenge students to represent their data using a pictograph or bar graph.
  4. Class Data Collection: Combine individual results to create a whole-class Easter egg graph and analyse trends together.
