Complete the Movement Pattern LET’S BUILD
Description
Let’s head to the Robot Factory! In this fun and interactive digital game, students will mix and match various robot body parts as they work their way through a series of multiple-choice questions focused on identifying movement patterns. Each correct answer earns them a new robot part, helping them build their very own unique robot creation!
In this early years version, students will observe simple movement patterns—such as jump, hop, jump, hop—and identify what action comes next. Patterns follow AB and ABC sequences and support early reasoning, sequencing, and critical thinking. The visual format and kinaesthetic focus make this a perfect introduction to pattern recognition for Foundation to Year 1 learners.
Let’s Build – Complete the Movement Pattern can be played as a whole-class activity on an interactive whiteboard or independently on student devices by scanning the QR code. It’s ideal for movement breaks, warm-ups, and integrated maths and PE learning opportunities.
Key Learning Outcomes:
- ✅ Recognise and continue AB and ABC movement patterns
- ✅ Identify what comes next in a repeating physical sequence
- ✅ Develop logical thinking and early problem-solving skills
- ✅ Strengthen visual and kinaesthetic learning connections
- ✅ Engage in interactive, game-based pattern recognition activities
How to Play:
- Students view a short movement pattern sequence (e.g. jump, hop, jump, hop...?).
- They choose the correct action to complete the pattern from multiple-choice options.
- Each correct answer unlocks a robot part to build their custom creation.
- When the robot is complete, it celebrates with a fun dance party!
- Replay the game to reinforce learning and build new robot combinations.
Ideas for Classroom Use:
- 💡 Use during maths patterning units or movement-based brain breaks
- 💡 Great for Early Years–Year 1 students learning about sequencing through action
- 💡 Pair with a physical activity where students act out their own movement patterns
- 💡 Add to rotations to support visual and kinaesthetic learners with pattern recognition
Top Teacher Tips:
- 💛 Let students personalise their experience by choosing from six characters before the game begins
- 💛 Select the number of players or teams at the start of the game to suit individual, paired, or group play
- 💛 Send the QR code home for students to play as a homework or revision task
