Identifying the types of connections of ideas in complex sentences.

Students will read complex sentences and identify the connections being made, which include:

• providing a reason
• stating a purpose
• expressing a condition
• making a concession
• connecting in time.

An alternate version of each worksheet has students writing their own complex sentences that match with the connection indicated on the worksheet.

Choose to print the worksheets one per student or print two versions for each student on one A4 page.
