Description
Help your students become confident sentence builders with our engaging Compound Sentence Construction Activity! This hands-on literacy task focuses on using conjunctions to connect ideas, encouraging students to create more complex and expressive writing through compound sentence construction.
Each sentence prompt includes a missing conjunction—cleverly displayed on a fun tape-style clipart joiner! Students must decide which of the three possible conjunctions best completes the sentence. Some options may fit grammatically, but only one makes the most logical sense. It's a fantastic way to spark critical thinking and discussion around sentence structure and meaning.
This activity is perfect for small group work, literacy rotations or independent practise. With 20 different sentence sets and a handy recording sheet included, you’ll be able to assess your students’ understanding of coordinating conjunctions while giving them plenty of opportunities to develop fluency in combining ideas.
