Construct this interactive Film Strip Story Summary Slider craft to support your students in learning to use the comprehension strategy of summarising. This craft has been designed to be used with any fiction text that students may listen to, view or read in the classroom.

Students will record their summary of the text by drawing pictures on the film strip template. This is then threaded through their very own movie theatre! Students can also practise their speaking skills by orally retelling the story as their pictures are pulled through the movie screen.

Enlarge the templates to A3 to provide additional space for students to draw their summary pictures. Please note that an adult will need to cut slits on the dotted lines of the theatre template prior to the lesson. We recommend using a craft knife to do this.
