A step-by-step guide on how to create a simple budget spreadsheet.
Students will use a spreadsheet program to create a simple budget breakdown for tabulating data and performing calculations using formula functions.
Five columns are created in the spreadsheet and include:
- Item – the name of the item
- Cost – the price of the item
- Total – a running total of the cost of all the items
- Budget – the total budget value that has been allocated
- Remaining Budget – the remaining amount of the budget.
Once they complete the spreadsheet setup, students can use it for real-world tasks or assignments.
Choose to print a few of these step-by-step guides on thick card and place them with digital devices for students to reference when needed. Alternatively, display the guide on a screen for all students to see during the activity.
