Description

Use this activity to help your students practise identifying initial sounds and writing and reading CVC words. Students identify the initial sound for each picture on the task card and then write the grapheme in the box underneath the picture. Once all three letters are written, the student segments and blends the sounds to read the mystery word. This resource comes with 20 task cards. Print the cards and place them into write and wipe sleeves. If working independently, a recording sheet has also been provided for students to solve and record eight mystery words. Top Teacher Tip: If students use the recording sheet, we recommend they use magnetic letters to spell the words on the task cards so the student is not required to write the word twice. The CVC words included are: bug, red, win, mad, zip, got, cat, fed, hip, jam, kin, leg, fit, yak, rot, sun, jug, log, sap, van
