Description

Do your students need to practise sorting data by colour, shape, size or type? Our versatile Data Collection: Sorting Mats resource has been designed for students to sort objects into groups.

Simply select the sorting mat option that suits the number of categories you want students to sort their objects into, provide a collection of items to be sorted and either instruct students how to sort their objects or allow them to create their own categories.

In addition to detailed instructions, this resource includes high and low-colour sorting mats in a variety of options to suit the needs of your class:

  1. 2 groups
  2. 3 groups
  3. 4 groups
  4. 5 groups
  5. 6 groups

Please note that you must provide items to be sorted on the sorting mats. Some suggestions include:

  1. Counters
  2. Unifix blocks
  3. Small toys
  4. Items from nature
  5. Stationery
  6. Pictures
  7. Shapes
