Description
Perfect for any dinosaur-loving classroom, the Dino Dig Number Cards provide a versatile and engaging way to explore early number recognition. With a fun prehistoric theme, these cards help make foundational maths skills feel like an adventure, drawing students into a world of fossils, dino tracks, and exciting number discovery.
Designed to reinforce numbers 1–10, these cards offer clear, bold numerals ideal for flashcard-style learning, group activities, or independent exploration. Whether you’re introducing numbers to early learners or reviewing key concepts in a playful setting, this resource supports numeracy development through visual and tactile engagement.
These compact cards print four per page, making them the perfect size for small hands. The friendly dinosaur graphics and clean design encourage repeated use across centres, rotations, and guided groups. Use them on their own or integrate them into sensory stations such as the Dinosaur Dig Play Pack for a more immersive and hands-on number experience.
Key Learning Outcomes:
- ✅ Recognise and name numbers from 1 to 10

- ✅ Develop visual memory of digits through repetition
- ✅ Engage in interactive, hands-on maths practice
What’s Included:
- Number cards from 1 to 10 (dinosaur theme)
Materials Needed:
- Printed and cut number cards
- Laminator and laminating pouches (for durability)
- Optional: sensory tubs or trays, sand, tweezers, or paintbrushes
How to Use:
- Print and cut the number cards – four cards print per A4 page for easy handling.
- Laminating the cards is recommended if using in sensory bins or group centres to enhance durability.
- Introduce the cards during a maths warm-up or in a number station – display one card at a time and ask students to call out the number aloud.
- Invite students to practise forming the number in the air, trace it on the table, or write it in sand, especially if using in conjunction with the Dinosaur Dig Play Pack.
- Use the cards for a variety of matching or memory games, such as matching cards to counters or toy dinosaurs representing the number shown.
- Rotate the cards into free play or calm-down zones where students can review numbers independently.
Ideas for Classroom Use:
- 💡 Use the cards in a sensory sand tray and encourage students to uncover and identify each number as a 'fossil' find
- 💡 Create a classroom dino dig where students search for hidden number cards and identify or order them once found
- 💡 Pair each number card with a group of objects (e.g. small dino figurines) to build one-to-one correspondence
- 💡 Use as a quick warm-up activity during your maths block or as an exit ticket for number recognition
Top Teacher Tips:
- 💛 Print multiple sets of the cards to create differentiated small-group games
- 💛 Store the cards in a ziplock bag or labelled container for easy rotation and reuse
- 💛 Send a printed set home in a learning pack to reinforce number practice with families
