If you’re looking for an engaging activity that will develop your students’ ability to make inferences, Downtown Delivery is the resource for you!

Students will love delivering packages around town and making inferences along the way! While this resource includes everything you need to play, the experience can be enhanced by adding toys, such as cars, road pieces and buildings. These items can often be found in shops, such as Kmart and Target.

This amazing resource includes:

1. Detailed instructions.
2. Adorable downtown buildings cards x20.
3. Cute downtown delivery playing cards x40 (we have included two cards to match each downtown building card; however, some ‘packages’ could be sent to more than one building).

The aim of the activity is for students to infer which building each delivery card ‘package’ should be delivered to based on clues and prior knowledge. Encourage them to justify their choices which will help to develop their oral language skills. As students are making their delivery decisions, ask them meaningful questions such as: What item needs to be delivered? Who might use that item? How would the item be used? Why would they need that item? How many items are there?

To extend your students, have them count the number of items that are included within each delivery or have them consider what other items the person or business may need to be delivered.

We recommend printing all resources on thick card for longevity. You may also like to place the building cards in playing piece stands or upside-down bulldog clips so they stand upright.
