Duration of Events LET’S SAIL
Description
All aboard, it’s time to dive for treasure! In this exciting digital game, students answer time-based questions to collect treasure from the ocean floor. Each piece of treasure is worth a different number of points, and the player with the most points at the end of the game wins!
In this version of Let’s Sail, students will solve multiple-choice questions involving the duration of events and journeys. For example, they may be asked: “If a flight takes off at 2:15pm and lands at 5:00pm, how long is the flight?” This game helps develop students’ ability to calculate elapsed time, supporting everyday maths reasoning and planning skills.
But watch out, answer incorrectly and your treasure slips back into the sea! Occasionally, a surprise treasure chest appears, offering a mystery reward to keep students engaged and eager for the next question.
Key Learning Outcomes:
- ✅ Calculate the duration of events and activities using start and end times
- ✅ Develop fluency with reading clocks and interpreting time data
