Description

Support your Year 4 students in their History: Experiences of People in Australia’s Past unit of work with the Early Contact: The Story of Bennelong and Governor Phillip task.

Created to coincide with Year 4 History Australian Curriculum, this activity will provide students with the opportunity to explore early contact between First Nations Australians and the British colonisers.

Students will complete a story map that depicts the relationship between First Nations Australian, Bennelong and leader of the Port Jackson colony, Governor Arthur Phillip. They will also reflect upon the different perspectives of this relationship.

This resource includes blank and annotated versions of the task sheet. If required, teachers can refer to the events as outlined in the annotated version. If students are adding their own captions on the blank version, it is recommended to enlarge the sheet to A3.

This activity is part of our Experiences of People in Australia’s Past Year 4 History Unit.
