Description

Use this suite of digital lessons as part of your teaching and learning sequence when completing a unit of work around the Earth’s rotation on its axis, which causes regular change.This resource includes lessons on the following:
  • Exploring Size - This investigation will help students understand and compare the size of the sun and moon, addressing misconceptions that the sun and moon are the same sizes.
  • The Sun: Source of Light – Another investigation into light and shadows. As students observe the movement and change in the shape of shadows, they will begin to make connections between night and day.
  • Exploring Movement – Role-play how the Earth spins causing night and day then look at the scientific explanation of this concept.
  • Making a sundial – This hands-on activity will show how ancient civilisations used the movement of the sun to tell time. Students will make connections to modern clocks and the sun.
