Description

Use this suite of digital lessons as part of your teaching and learning sequence when completing a unit of work around the Earth’s rotation on its axis, which causes regular change.

This resource includes lessons on the following:

·        Exploring Size - This investigation will help students understand and compare the size of the sun and moon, addressing misconceptions that the sun and moon are the same sizes.

·        The Sun: Source of Light – Another investigation into light and shadows. As students observe the movement and change in the shape of shadows, they will begin to make connections between night and day.

·        Exploring Movement – Role-play how the Earth spins causing night and day then look at the scientific explanation of this concept.

·        Making a sundial – This hands-on activity will show how ancient civilisations used the movement of the sun to tell time. Students will make connections to modern clocks and the sun.

This resource aligns with our Earth's Rotation Assessment, and Earth's Rotation Worksheet Booklet.
