Description
Our Easter Five Senses Mini Book is a hands-on literacy and sensory exploration activity designed to help young learners explore their five senses in a fun and engaging way. Through simple sentence starters and drawing opportunities, students will reflect on what they can see, hear, smell, taste, and feel during Easter celebrations.
How to Complete
To suit the needs of your class, we have included three mini book options: drawing only, 24mm lines and 18mm lines. Print the mini book and cut (or guillotine) along the dotted lines. Staple or hole-punch and attach to create a booklet for students to complete.
- Begin with a discussion about the five senses (sight, smell, taste, touch, and hearing) and how they help us experience the world.
- Students will use the sentence starters on each page of the booklet to help share what their senses experience at Easter time. For example:
- At Easter, I can taste… (e.g., chocolate, hot cross buns)
- At Easter, I can see… (e.g., colourful eggs, bunnies)
- At Easter, I can smell… (e.g., hot cross buns, chocolate)
- At Easter, I can hear… (e.g., laughter, Easter songs)
- At Easter, I can feel… (foil, smooth chocolate)
- Students can then draw a picture representing their sensory experience.
Additional Tips
- Encourage students to use descriptive words when filling in their responses.
- Use real objects or a sensory bin with Easter-themed items to provide hands-on experiences before completing the book.
- Provide a word bank with Easter-related vocabulary to support students.
- Younger students may benefit from having the templates enlarged to A3.
This mini book is an excellent way to build vocabulary, enhance descriptive language skills, and encourage sensory exploration.
