Description
Our Easter Fine Motor Task Cards are designed to help young learners develop essential fine motor skills in a fun and engaging way. This resource includes a variety of hands-on activities that support hand-eye and bilateral coordination, scissor skills, pencil control, pincer grip, and number recognition. With a festive Easter theme, these activities will keep students engaged as they refine their motor skills.
How to Complete
To complete the activities on the task cards, students will need access to plastic hollow eggs, pencils or markers, scissors, tweezers, pom poms, assorted beads and baskets.
Print the Easter Fine Motor Task Cards on thick cardstock for durability and cut out ready for the first use. Prior to the lesson, ensure the required materials are available for students and that resource preparation is complete. Arrange different stations for each fine motor task.
Students will move to the different stations and follow the instructions to complete the activities. We recommend that an adult helper is available to assist students in understanding the instructions and completing the activities to ensure their fine motor skills are being properly developed.
This resource includes 6 hands-on activities that will develop your students’ fine motor skills. Choose from:
- Match the Eggs: This hand and finger strength task requires students to match plastic hollow egg halves according to the number written on the top half and the number of sticker dots on the bottom half.
- Bunny Cutting: This scissor skills task requires students to cut around a bunny template using the correct scissor grip. The bunny template has been included.
- Catch the Carrot: This tracing task requires students to use the correct pencil grip as they trace the dotted lines, connecting the bunny to the carrot. Two worksheet options have been included.
- Collect the Eggs: This tweezer task requires students to use a pincer grip to transfer pom pom ‘eggs’ to an Easter basket.
- Beady Eggs: This hand-eye coordination task requires students to apply a pincer grip as they pick up beads and place them along the lines of an Easter egg template. Six egg templates have been included.
- Colour Match: This tweezer task requires students to use a pincer grip to transfer colourful pom poms to a hollow egg of the same colour, reinforcing colour recognition and hand-eye coordination.
Additional Tips
- Model the correct pencil grip, scissor handling and tweezer skills before students begin.
- Offer both right-and left-handed scissors for accessibility.
- Hollow plastic Easter eggs are commonly found in the lead up to Easter in shops such as Kmart, Red Dot and The Reject Shop.
Extension Ideas
- Maths Integration: Have students count, add, or subtract pom poms or beads as they complete their tasks.
- Creative Play: Let students decorate their cut-out bunnies or design their Easter eggs after completing their activities.
