These resources are flexible activities that support the Foundation Health: Interacting with Others curriculum, and can be used to introduce your students to the concept of emotions in various ways.The Emotions Faces resource has been designed to help introduce students to emotions and begin discussions in identifying them, how they look on our bodies, and how they feel inside. Print each emotion face on thick card stock and attach it to a pop stick so they can be held up by students during an activity or whole class discussion of your choice.The Emotions Slider can be used separately or with the Emotions Faces. In a small group, instruct each child to create an Emotions Slider. Start by punching a hole in the end of each card. Model for the students how to thread a bead onto the pipe cleaner and then how to push the pipe cleaner through each end of the slider. Bend the pipe cleaner over the back and tape it to the back of the paper. We recommend printing the Emotions Slider on thick cardstock for sturdiness and reusability.As a suggested activity, instruct students to return to the carpet and sit in a circle holding their Emotions Slider. Provide a scenario for the students and ask them to move their bead to the emotion they may feel. You may like to use these examples or produce your own:

• You are about to go on your first rollercoaster (excited, nervous).
• Tomorrow is your birthday party (excited, happy).
• Today is your first day of school (nervous, happy, excited).
• You win the running race (happy).
• You fall over and hurt your leg (sad).
• Your baby brother was awake crying all night (tired).
• You are learning a brand-new thing in science (nervous, confused).
• Your big sister hides behind your bedroom door and jumps out at you (scared).
