Enhancing the Setting: Metaphor Worksheets are the perfect differentiated worksheets to assist your students in developing their skills in enhancing and improving their settings in narratives.

These 3 differentiated worksheets provided your students with the opportunity to work on how to experiment with the literary device of metaphors. The 3 worksheets are designed as follows:

1. Worksheet 1 (Pages 1 – 3): This cut-and-sort worksheet is designed for students to practise identifying and sorting sentences, distinguishing between those with and without metaphors. This worksheet provides the students with a definition to support them in completing the worksheet.
2. Worksheet 2 (Pages 4 – 5): This worksheet provides the students with an example of metaphors to support them in identifying the two objects being compared. Students are provided with the opportunity to extend themselves to write their own setting sentence that includes a metaphor.
3. Worksheet 3 (Pages 6 and 7): This worksheet guides students in applying their knowledge of metaphors to create and experiment with metaphors in simple sentences, enhancing the meaning of the setting.

Each worksheet has an answer sheet; however, the third worksheet’s answers are examples of what students could potentially create.
