Most students often forget to check their working out when solving addition and subtraction problems, or they think it takes too long to solve the problem again in order to confirm their answer. Well, this activity is a great lesson for your students about how to roughly check their answers by making a reasonable estimate as to what the answer should be close to; a skill most of us use in our everyday lives.
