This world map resource is a visual and interactive way to celebrate cultural diversity, inclusivity, and belonging and is ideal to display and use during Harmony Day celebrations.  

Through displaying this resource and discussing where students and their families were born, your class will have the opportunity to explore their connections with different places around the world.

We recommend enlarging the map to A3, displaying it on a wall and labelling it with your students’ names to show where they or their family members were born. Alternatively, print and cut out small photos of your students and add them around the world map posters. Add push pins and string between each student’s photo and their birthplace.

Additional Tips:

1. Choose between the colour-coded continent world map, the green world map or the white world map.
2. Pair the poster with a classroom discussion about what belonging means and why cultural diversity is valuable.
3. Encourage students to share personal stories about their family’s cultural background, traditions, or experiences.
4. Organise a show and tell where students can bring items from their cultural heritage to share with the class.
