Support your Year 3 and 4 students in their Health: Interacting With Others unit of work with the First Nations Australians’ Story Map task. Created to coincide with the Year 3 and 4 Health Australian Curriculum, this activity will allow students to build respect and empathy for First Nations Australians by learning about the cultural significance of a Creation story. Students will complete this story map task after they have read a Creation story. They will be required to illustrate and describe the key events in the story. Students will then reflect upon what can be learnt about First Nations Australians’ culture from the Creation story. We highly recommend engaging with Elders in your local community to discover Creation stories relevant to the country on which you are teaching.
