Flip, Find & Cover is an engaging game that will challenge students to determine the missing conjunction in a compound sentence.

Students will flip a sentence, determine the correct conjunction to complete it, cover the conjunction on their game board and write the sentence on the recording sheet. Students should be encouraged to read the sentence aloud to ensure that the conjunction they have chosen is correct.

Flip, Find & Cover is a low-preparation game, once the game has been printed and cut once, it can be used time and time again. The game cards must be cut out before the first use; however, it is straight line cutting so the guillotine could be used. Printing the game boards and game cards on thick card is recommended for longevity. The included Recording Sheet has space for four sentences, so multiple copies will need to be printed. Alternatively, students could record the sentences in their workbooks. The suggested answers are also included to help make correction a breeze, or it can be a student-led task.

Flip, Find & Cover is a versatile game. It can be played by individuals or small groups, or the competitive element of the game can be removed, with students using the game cards as task cards working through and recording the sentences. This versatility means that Flip, Find & Cover can be used during small group rotations, as a fun game with a small group of students or it could be used as task cards for early finishers. Either way, learning while having fun is guaranteed.
