Description

Early number recognition becomes even more fun when students flip, match and race to complete their board in the Flip & Match: Numbers 1–10 Game. This interactive and tactile resource supports number awareness, matching skills, and early subitising strategies.


Designed for small group or partner play, students will build fluency as they identify quantities represented in picture form and match them to their corresponding numerals. With a strong focus on one-to-one correspondence and visual quantity recognition, this game reinforces foundational number sense from 1 to 10 in a playful way.


Each turn is a chance for students to sharpen their observation skills, make quick number connections, and practise turn-taking. The element of chance adds an extra layer of excitement as they hope to uncover cards that match uncovered spots on their board. Materials Needed

Printed boards and cards (recommended on thick cardstock)

Scissors or paper trimmer for card preparation

Optional: laminator for repeated classroom use

Containers or zip-lock bags for card storage


How to Use

  1. Print and prepare the boards and matching cards in your preferred colour version.
  2. Give each student a game board and place the cards in a shuffled pile, face down.
  3. Students take turns drawing one card from the pile.
  4. If the card shows a quantity that matches an uncovered number on their board, they place it on the matching spot.
  5. If the quantity is already covered on their board, the card goes to the bottom of the pile and the turn is skipped.
  6. Play continues until one student has covered all numbers or time runs out. The student with the most covered numbers wins.
