Food Collector Game
Description
This resource is a fun food collecting game that ties in with Foundation Level Biological Sciences.
The aim of the game is for the students to collect an item of food from each part of a plant.
Each player starts with their playing piece on the start square. Players take turns rolling the dice and moving their playing piece the corresponding number of times. The board has no finishing point; players can keep moving around and around the board until they have collected food from each part of the plant.
When a player lands on a square, they need to identify the food and the part of the plant it is from. The player then puts a counter on the ‘My Food Collection’ card in the section that matches.
The player who places a counter in every section of their ‘My Food Collection’ card first is the winner of the game.
The foods included in the game are: roots (carrot, potato or radish), a seed, seeds (peas, nuts or corn), stem (celery or asparagus), leaf (cabbage, Brussels sprout or lettuce), flower (broccoli, artichoke or cauliflower) and fruit (avocado, tomato, capsicum)
The components of the game are the Food Collector game board, Food Collection Recording Cards and the Parts of a Plant Reference Sheet. Students will also needs a dice and some counters to play the game.
The game board, recording cards and reference sheet can be printed on thick card or placed into a write and wipe sleeve for longevity.
