Description

This set of differentiated fractions puzzles will have students solving addition and subtraction problems with fractions that have the same or related denominators.

There are three versions of this puzzle that increase in complexity and content.

version on page 2 – addition and subtraction of fractions with the same denominators only
version on page 3 – fractions with the same or related denominators
version on page 4 – fractions with the same or related denominators and simplified solutions (i.e. multiple answers result in the same fraction requiring a bit more puzzle solving).

A base template is included if you wish to have students’ piece together on a separate piece of paper. Alternatively, have students compile it on their desks before pasting the completed puzzle in their maths workbooks.

Print a puzzle per student or choose to have students work in groups. Answer pages are included for each version. To check student answers quickly, look at the fruit combination. All versions have the same arrangement.
