Support your Year 1 students in their learning of HASS: Geography, with the Places Around Me Assessment task.

Created to coincide with Year 1 Geography Australian Curriculum, this activity will provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of the concepts related to naming, describing and identifying the location of natural, managed and constructed places.

Students will create a map of their school then identify and label the natural, managed and constructed places. Students will then describe their location to a friend or teacher, then write their responses on the provided writing page.

Teachers can assess this task using the Places Around Me Assessment Rubric. A blank version of this document has also been included.
