Geography Assessment Year 3: Landmark Preservation Assessment
Description
Support your Year 3 students in their learning of HASS: Geography, with the Landmark Preservation Assessment task.
Created to coincide with Year 3 Geography Australian Curriculum, this activity will provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of the concepts related to identifying the similarities and differences between places in Australia and neighbouring countries in terms of their natural, managed and constructed features.
Students will apply their research skills to independently write a persuasive text explaining one thing the International Council for the Preservation of Landmarks can do to help preserve each landmark type: natural, managed and constructed. Students will need to reference landmarks from three different countries, including Australia, and their solutions need to consider local climates, biomes and settlements.
Teachers can assess this task using the Persuasive Text Assessment Rubric. A blank version of this document has also been included.
This assessment is part of Our Connections to Place Year 3 Geography Unit.
