Looking for an engaging unit to teach Year 4 Geography? Well, you are in the right spot as our Environments and Sustainable Resources Unit has got you covered!

This unit contains 12 lessons, stepping through an inquiry process looking into why environments are important to people and animals and what people can do to help protect the environment for years to come. Students engage their prior knowledge and develop questions to help guide the inquiry process. They learn about particular biome types and sustainable practices before presenting their conclusions at the mid-point and end of the unit.

The unit pack comes in a downloadable zip folder and contains the following resources:

• Unit Guide: includes a scope and sequence, unit overview, lesson plans with associated worksheets, templates, cut outs, checklists, assessment rubrics, self-reflection templates, suggested resources and tiered vocabulary lists.
• Student Booklet: includes a cover page and the worksheets and templates that students will work on and refer to throughout the unit. Some worksheets and pages are not included in the booklet as they require printing separately.
• PowerPoint: for use with specific lessons providing students information and follows the story of Bianca Biome who is building a park showcasing the different biomes of the world.
• Displays: definition posters for nine biome types, renewable and non-renewable resources, word wall cards and a unit banner.

Two assessment tasks are set up in the unit and take the form of a biome diorama and digital sustainability posters. Familiarise yourself with the assessment tasks and any necessary preparation prior to the commencement of the unit.
