Support your Foundation students in their learning of HASS: History, with the My Family History Assessment task.

Created to coincide with Foundation History Australian Curriculum, this activity will provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of the concepts related to families and their structures.

In the classroom, students will develop questions to gather information about their family members and family history, using the Discovering My Family History worksheet. Each student will take their worksheet home to complete with the help of their family. Upon completion, the Discovering My Family History worksheet must be returned to school so that students can present the information learned about their family in an oral presentation in front of the class or as a 1:1 interview with the classroom teacher. To gain further information on each child’s understanding of the topic, teachers can ask students follow up questions as outlined on the My Family Recording Sheet. Students will describe the members of their family, where they were born and how they are related to each other.

Teachers can assess this task using the My Family Assessment Rubric. A blank version of this document has also been included.
