If you’re exploring nursery rhymes with your students, then this is the craft for you.

Using the templates provided, students will create a cute Humpty Dumpty complete with bow tie, top hat and dangly legs. The action of folding the paper legs back and forth to create an accordion fold will develop their fine motor skills, specifically their finger strength, dexterity and coordination. Your students will love the challenge of manipulating the paper by pinching, pressing and aligning the edges to make precise folds. These skills are essential building blocks for completing tasks that require precise hand movements, such as drawing, crafting, tying shoelaces and completing puzzles.

Although following a template, a display of unique Humpty Dumpties will be created upon completion, as students let their creative energy run free selecting the colours for and positioning of Humpty Dumpty’s accessories. A backing sheet is included for display purposes, or alternatively Humpty Dumpty can be left as is. For older students, a cloze style sentence strip is included that could be displayed with the completed crafts.
