This fun, hands on resource is perfect to help develop oral language skills in the early years. This resource includes 10 different game boards with assorted familiar items.  Students are invited to work in partners, taking turns to roll a die and describe the item they land on. It is perfect to help develop the following skills:

1. Descriptive Language: Students will use descriptive language to describe the picture they land on when rolling the die. This can include using adjectives to describe the size, colour, shape, and other characteristics of the picture.
2. Vocabulary Development: As they take turns describing the pictures on the game board, they are exposed to new words and concepts. They may also use descriptive words to help their peers understand the picture.
3. Speaking and Listening Skills: Children must actively listen to their peers as they describe the pictures on the game board, speaking clearly and effectively when it is their turn to describe a picture.
4. Turn-Taking and Collaboration: The game encourages early learners to take turns, share ideas and work together to cross out all the pictures on the game board.
5. Following Instructions: Students follow the instructions of the game to play.

These oral language skills support the development of several outcomes in the Early Years Learning Framework, including:

• Listening and responding to others
• Expressing ideas and thoughts using language and other modes of communication
• Developing effective communication skills for different purposes and contexts
• Using language to learn and communicate with others in social situations.
