I Spy Oral Language Game
Description
An oral language take on a classic game! In this activity, students are required to listen to an instructional set of clues before finding the corresponding picture. They also have the opportunity to develop their own set of prompts and question their peers. Use plastic magnifying glasses for a fun twist!
There are many different ways you could use this resource. Some suggestions are:
Educator Led: Each student receives a game board. Use the Educator Prompts as an example to guide questioning and allow students to find objects. This could be played one on one or in a small group. Students may place a counter or small object over each picture once located.
Student Led: Set up game as above but using Student Prompt cards. These are broad and work with all mats. Taking turns, students choose a card and read it to their peers, beginning with the phrase “I spy with my little eye…”.
Barrier Game: Print 2 copies of the same board. Students sit opposite each other, with a barrier between them (optional). Students take turns to read prompt cards, allowing partner to locate each object. They could also make up their own prompts specific to their mat.
